New video series on integrated roof-mounted solar panels for the roofing industry
Ernst Schweizer AG, in collaboration with Dachdecker-Einkauf Ost eG and specialist wholesaler deSonna GmbH, has developed a series of around 20 videos on the sale and installation of in-roof photovoltaic systems. The clips are presented by two master roofers and can be accessed free of charge after registration. Within overarching thematic sections such as ‘Getting started with in-roof PV’, ‘Selling in-roof PV’ and ‘Installing in-roof PV’, numerous individual topics are explored using examples.
Roofing practice as a foundation
When selecting topics, the partners draw on questions regarding in-roof photovoltaics that are frequently asked by roofing tradespeople in their many years of practice.
The videos on general topics are largely product-neutral. The specific practical examples use the in-roof PV system from Ernst Schweizer to demonstrate and explain real-life installation scenarios.
With its Solrif in-roof PV system, Ernst Schweizer offers a solution that has been in use for over 25 years. deSonna GmbH and Dachdecker-Einkauf Ost eG are experienced wholesalers and consultants for in-roof solar systems. The latter covers the whole of Germany with 23 branches in five federal states . deSonna GmbH supports the roofing trade in southern Germany and operates an online shop for in-roof photovoltaics.
“Reservations about in-roof photovoltaics often disappear when roofers see how the systems are planned and installed. That is our experience from numerous training sessions and demonstration installations. That is exactly what the videos do: they provide an insight into practical application, and they do so in a simple way,” says Helge Hartwig, Sales Manager for Solar Systems at Ernst Schweizer and responsible for in-roof photovoltaic systems for over 20 years.
Addressing objections and detailed queries
In addition to introductory information, the videos also address specific objections on topics such as durability, rear ventilation, fire safety, and the repair and replacement of defective modules. Such objections can lead to building owners opting for conventional rooftop systems instead. These are then usually installed by standard solar installers, whilst integrated roof solar systems offer particular opportunities for the roofing trade.
Furthermore, the videos cover both in-roof-specific issues such as the integration of roof structures, as well as general photovoltaic aspects such as the planning and installation of the DC-side electrical connection and equipotential bonding.
